Available exclusively to California Fair Services Authority (CFSA)
self-insurance pool members, the Equipment Purchasing Program could
be one of CFSA's most overlooked opportunities. This innovative
program, created in 1992, helps fairs obtain expensive services and big-ticket items such as computers, bleachers and fork lifts.
CFSA funds the program with a portion of its risk insurance pool
reserves, as authorized by its board of directors.
How the Program Works
Fairs make their item requests and CFSA uses its preferred-customer
purchasing power to buy the needed equipment. Fairs then have the
use of the equipment while making amortized payments to CFSA. To
reimburse the risk pools for the amount of interest lost, interest
is assessed on the repayment. Among the most frequently purchased
items are computer hardware and software, bleachers and copy machines.
