Rick Wood, CFSA's Chief Financial Officer, reminds all fairs that CFSA can reimburse you for 60 percent of your unemployment insurance costs. Rick notes that more than 25 fairs, this year alone, have yet to supply CFSA with the information necessary for the agency to administer a reimbursement.
To receive your reimbursement, all you need to do is supply CFSA with:

DAAs: ARE YOU UP-TO-DATE ON HOW TO FILE A VEHICLE ACCIDENT REPORT?
Bob Nixon, CFSA's general liability claims administrator, reminds all DAAs that all motorized equipment/vehicle accidents involving state-owned equipment (cars and trucks to riding lawn mowers and golf carts) or any motorized vehicle/equipment being used on state business, must be reported within 48 hours to the Office of Risk and Insurance Management(ORIM, 1325 J Street, Suite 1800, Sacramento, CA 95814), using STD. Form 270, "Report of Vehicle Accident."
If, however, the accident resulted in bodily injury or significant property damage to a non-state party, before sending in a detailed report, the accident must be reported flrSt by either calling ORIM at (916) 322-0459 or by faring a preliminary copy of the STD. Form 270 to ORIM at (916) 322-6006.
Please note. Neither of these two reporting steps takes the place of your filing a detailed STD. Form 270 with ORIM within 48 hours. (For convenience, accident identification cards, STD. Form 269 and STD. Form 270 should be made available in the glove compartments ofali state vehicles.)
Questions? Call Bob Nixon at (916) 921-2213.

TREND WATCH
The Wall Street Journal reports on county fairs
In a Business Bulletin article on trends in industry and finance, The Wall Street Journal reports that county fairs are fighting "a dwindling farm population with fresh marketing tactics."
South Dakota's fairs "are all struggling," says Bob Schurrer of that state's fairs association. Others, including the Towner County Fair in North Dakota and DeWitt County Fair, an Illinois institution for 65 years, are both calling it quits.
The article continues that "savvy" fairs are angling for visitors who aren't farmers. The Ramsey County Fair in Minnesota has "the world's biggest milk cap contest" for kids who play the Fog game. Other fairs are promoting "vegetable races," and Minnesota's Grant County Fair is even trying its hand in matchmaking. This year, the fair will feature the wedding ofa couple who met at the fair last year.
Many 4-11 clubs are also trying new tactics, the article points out, with rocketry, computers, photography and exotic animals competing with the more traditional calfand pig judging.
